This goes against my capitalistic instincts, however, I am currently unable to accept appraisal assigmments from anyone other than my established clients until further notice.  This is a direct result of historic low interest rates and the high volume of ongoing refi activity in my back yard-  Chautauqua County, USA. It's a great time to refinance-  if you haven't already, talk to your favorite mortage lender... the savings can be enormous!

This annual report by Remodeling Magazine & the National Association of Realtors shows the gain in market value vs. the cost of various improvement projects, now updated for 2013. See how much value is added by common upgrades, remodeling, additions, etc. in our region. It's an eye opener... for example, a major kitchen remodel on a "midrange" house returns only 69 cents in market value for each dollar invested, while a sunroom addition returns just 46 cents on the dollar (ouch).
